What is Lundayeh?

okay so for this blog I would be telling you guys about Lundayeh, my race(suku kaum).

I am very much sure none of you have heard about this race before.. So I will educate ya'll.

Lundayeh is actually a tribe, a native tribe in Sabah. It is also known as Lun Bawang in Sarawak and also Kaum Dayak in Kalimantan, Indonesia. Besides Malaysia and Indonesia, Lundayeh can also be found in Brunei..

So as you can see, the Lundayeh tribe is populated in the green zone. If I am not mistaken, it all started in Indonesia and slowly it spreads all over Borneo..Correct me if Im wrong ya..

The Lundayeh tribe or more known as Dayak tribe is the largest and oldest native group in Borneo. So dont attack me when I say we were the first to settle in Borneo ;)

 So for Lundayeh's traditional costume, I would say, men will be wearing like the above photo and women will wear like the photo below..

For the women's clothing, it may look simpler than the men's but dont judge by it's simplicity, the beads they wear on their head and waist takes hours and hours to do.. 

Everything they wear are handmade, and thats why it is as precious as well known brands. Like the bird feathers on the man's head it is worth a Louis Vuitton bag, no joke..

Lundayeh live in long houses and this is one of the Lundayeh Long House in Sipitang, Sabah called Kg Kaban. Kg Kaban is also where my great grandmother lives as well as my grand aunts and uncles with their family..

So whenever there is a special day like weddings, ceremonies and etc. They would gather and feast like the photo above.. I personally have been to few 'makan-makan' like that. They would roll out mats for us to sit on and lay down banana leaves and serve the dishes on it, so you'll be sharing it with the people next to you while holding your freshly cooked 'nasi bungkus'.. how i miss the good old days..

To sum up, and you can answer your friends if they ask you "What is Lundayeh?"..

It is the largest and oldest native tribe to ever live on Borneo.
